For Prof. Dr. med. Knut Beitzel, in addition to the precise application of advanced surgical procedures, shoulder surgery includes a profound understanding of the individual characteristics of the shoulder joint. That is because an operation is only necessary if there is structural damage in the shoulder area. His goal is to perform surgeries only if they are strictly indicated and have a clear chance of success.
Should an operation be necessary, he performs all minimally invasive interventions with a keyhole technique (arthroscopy) for the stabilisation of the joint or reconstruction of torn tendons. For advanced joint damage, he applies all forms of artificial joint replacement (endoprostheses). The respective procedure is individually tailored to our patients and used safely.
