- Chief Physician, Endoprosthetics Hip & Knee
Prof. Zilkens is an expert in joint preservation and minimally invasive joint replacement of hip and knee joint. For five years he was deputy director and chief medical officer of the Orthopaedic University Hospital Düsseldorf as well as head of the local endoprosthetics centre for maximum care.
His clinical focus is the selective classification and stage-appropriate therapy of cartilage damage to the hip and knee joint. For diagnostics, he uses state-of-the-art biochemically sensitive MRI procedures, for therapy, among other things, conversion operations and arthroscopic cartilage cell transplantation.
In the event of a necessary endoprosthesis treatment, he has many years of experience with tissue-sparing surgical procedures, individual and partial endoprostheses on the knee joint, as well as with bone-sparing short shaft prostheses on the hip joint.
